Lamb, baby.

It’s lambing season down here in the antipodes.
Must mountain bike very, very quietly. Don’t want to disturb the little ones.

Sooo cute. I can’t look! I must look!

They certainly don’t seem timid about looking at you. Must be a curious sight.

The sheep are pretty uninterested in the affairs of humans, though they will saunter away if you get within a couple of meters.
Something like a quarter of NZ driver’s exam is dedicated to what you should do if you encounter a herd of sheep on the road (hint: the answer isn’t “speed up and honk your horn”)

Reminds me of the imaginary friend, Timothy, who was part of the menagerie that regularly joined us at the dinner table many years ago. It was a lively conversation (one chair seemed to suffice for the lot of them), until that fateful holiday meal when their small companion in the booster seat asked what was for supper and a distracted parent replied leg of lllllla . . . um, mutton!

Call me heartless, but even their mind-altering cuteness fields can’t keep me away from the lamb, mint, and kumara pies down at the local pie shoppe. Now that’s good eats.
