Belated Thanks

April 14th, 2009 — 9:36pm

(aka Can we eat lunch with the cool kids now?)

Much belated thanks to the Fairfield, Rieffel and Taraz Preer clans for letting us be in their cult. I mean, enabling the baby wearing.

Word.

(oh, and extra double-thanks to Auntie Elsbeth for the kickin’ sweaters)

Breakfast in Geraldine

April 14th, 2009 — 9:31pm

As previously noted, NZed is one of the last bastions of civilisation in a feckless world. For example, we get both Good Friday and Easter, er, Monday as public holidays, creating a wonderful four day weekend to farewell the summer. In fact, the University even gave us Tuesday off, for a massive five-day weekend.

Unfortunately, Anna had a football match in Ashburton on Sunday morning, and we aren’t really in a position to spend five days in the back country. Instead, we opted for a couple of days in inland Canterbury, centered on beautiful Geraldine.

We were able to take a number of goodly walks in the woods, and viewed quite a few large trees (mostly Totara, thanks).

Hard to imagine the Canterbury plain covered in bush instead of cows.

Certainly nice to get into the woods and imagine a future where we can get back to tramping.

Anna’s team won their match 2-1, thanks for asking.

Indeed.
