The difference a year makes…
My soccer game on sunday was called after 80 bone-numbing minutes when the freezing rain turned to hail, so it’s fair to say that winter has officially started.
However, I’ve been a bit behind in my blogging, so here’s one last taste of summer…
This was our front flower bed in march last year

and in march this year. I guess those two weekends we spent digging for dinosaurs were worth it.

Should be an inspiration to us all, up here where the earth is springing back now that the piles of ice have disappeared and it is finally warming up. We are sharpening our garden tools heading into the Memorial Day weekend while contemplating what to do with what is left of our “herbaceous border” after winterkill.
We really miss Cyrano’s regular patrols of our small patch. The rabbits are nibbling off all the fresh shoots of the plants I want to keep, while leaving the things I wish they would prune. You’d think they would at least take care of the dandelions before moving on to the raspberries, lilies and coral bells.
But oh, don’t despair! There is the promise of ramps and rhubarb in our Harmony Valley box this weekend!
