After 28 hours of travel the Marburg family circus has landed in to North America. How did it go?
About as well as one could hope for, given three flights, including a 12 hour hop from Auckland to LAX. There was a bit of grumbling (from all parties) by the end of the last flight up to Portland.
Highlights? Making successful use of the “skycot” on the long haul flight.
Lowlights? The carpet at LAX. Like, gross, yo.
Other than a five hour time difference and serious jet-lagging, we’re all happy and ready for a nap.

- Big earthquake in the Southland. Anna felt it, but I didn’t.
- Em discovered the joy of playing. With her parents. In the middle of the night. Her favorite new game is screaming contest.
- As such, we’re leaving for a transpacific flight in a few hours with about six hours of sleep between us.
More news from the Northern Hemisphere once we get there…

I’ve had this post in the queue for most of the week, waiting for the right punchline. But it eludes me, so instead here’s the straight man version.
Our daughter’s favorite toy is a wooden rice paddle.
And, for grandparental enjoyment, here are a few vids of the spoon-chewing excitement: one, two, three. Non-relatives, be forewarned, we cannot compensate you for the precious few minutes of your life these videos might consume.
